Pierre A. Kremp received the Ronald Burt best graduate student paper award of the Economic Sociology Section of the American Sociological Association (2006).
Alexandra K. Murphy was elected as student representative for the Race, Gender, and Class ASA Section 2006-07.
Sandy Zaeh, a junior majoring in Sociology, received the Honorable Mention for Junior Year Independent Work from the Dean Hank Dobin Prize in Community-Based Independent Work (2006). Her project is "Street Level Bureaucracy Within the Foster Care System: Exploring Instabilities Within the System."
Katherine Newman was elected President of the Eastern Sociological Society for 2007-08.
Devah Pager received the NSF CAREER award, a faculty early career development grant (2006).
Doug Massey was elected to the membership in the American Philosophical Society. His book, Beyond Smoke and Mirrors, won the 2004 Otis Dudley Duncan Award for best book in social demography from the ASA.
Sara McLanahan received the distinguished career award from the Sociology of the Family section of the ASA.
