URM Representation in Elite Professoriate

This project seeks to a) empirically establish the presence of Under-Represented Minority professors in the faculty of 7 departments in 60 leading colleges and universities; b) define patterns of training and career that may account for the limited success we see.  The study shows that URM representation in the academy has barely budged in several decades and that the problem can be traced at least in part to the failure to produce URM PhDs in any significant fashion.  It suggests new research strategies based on the data that could lead to better analysis and better diversification policies.
