Alondra Nelson is one of the country's foremost thinkers in the fields of science, technology, social inequality, and race. Her groundbreaking books include The Social Life of DNA: Race, Reparations, and Reconciliation after the Genome and Body and Soul: The Black Panther Party and the Fight Against Medical Discrimination. Nelson was previously Professor of Sociology at Columbia. She was the University's first Dean of Social Science and continues to serve as President of Social Science Research Council. Nelson has joined the department as a regular Visiting Lecturer with the rank of Professor at the same time that she assumes the Harold F. Linder Chair in the School of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
