Ha-Joon Chung is a Ph.D. student in Sociology and Social Policy with a specialization in Demography. His current interest lies in the iterative process in which the education system and society reinforce each other: How stratification and culture shape the institutions of education and people’s participation, and how varying educational experiences impact people's life chances and outcomes. Ha-Joon received a B.A. in Sociology along with a teaching certificate from Yonsei University (2018), and a M.A. in Quantitative Methods & Social Analysis from the University of Chicago (2019). For his master thesis, he addressed the effect of cultural capital on student achievement and tackled the shortcomings of conventional measurements of the concept. Prior to joining the program, Ha-Joon worked as a research assistant to the Committee on Quantitative Methods at the University of Chicago.
