Jacob's research focuses on spatial inequality. He leverages observational and experimental methods to study the mechanisms responsible for sorting individuals across space and how the distribution of people by race and class interacts with political, social, and ecological systems to create and sustain economic disparities. His work has received support from the William T. Grant Foundation and the Russell Sage Foundation. Coverage of his research has appeared in the Washington Post, The Atlantic: City Lab, New Republic, and the Huffington Post. Jacob received his PhD from NYU’s Sociology Department.
