Bio/Description
Katie is a 5th-year doctoral student. She received a B.A. in Sociology from New York University, with a minor in Mathematics and Computer Science. Her past research explored how gentrifiers negotiate their role in the process of gentrification. Currently, she is interested in the sociology of medicine, gender, and culture. Her dissertation investigates the social construction of techno-scientific narratives surrounding hormonal intrauterine devices (IUDs)--a popular contraceptive technology.
